More Strawberries Wins The 2010 Furious Stakes Ahead Of Divorces & Parables

September 5th, 2010

Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse was host to the next bout of thrilling Spring Carnival Racing as eight races took to the track on Saturday, including the Group Two Furious Stakes (1400m).

Eight three-year-old fillies formed the 2010 Furious Stakes final field, which resulted in punters at making the most of the lucrative odds.

More Strawberries, trained by Gai Waterhouse, claimed the 2010 Furious Stakes win. Formerly referred to as the nation’s best maiden, the superb victory from the front saw her lose that unwanted tag.

The More Than Ready filly responded well to the perfect directions from hoop Nash Rawiller, and headed to the front of the field off the jump from her wide alley.

More Strawberries proved she had what it took in the tail end of the race, and held off a steady challenge from Divorces which she beat by half a head.

The runner up proved herself a solid runner for the spring, as the Domesday filly returned to racing after a spell.

Trained by Peter Snowden, Divorces defeated stablemate and pre race favourite Parables into third by a length-and-a-half.

Waterhouse has confirmed More Strawberries will continue to run in the Princess Series with a jump in the Group Two Tea Rose Stakes (1500m) on September 18 and the Group One Flight Stakes (1600m) on October 2 before heading down to Melbourne.
